PostSubject: Win 7   Thu Aug 12, 2010 1:08 pm

I am thinking about moving from Win XP to Win 7.

Does any of you use Win 7?
If yes: Have you had any problems with drivers or old games etc?

I am also wondering if I should rather get the 64-bit version or the 32-bit...

Help please!!! Smile

Lol, I know nothing about this, but I'm using Win7 64bit, I also changed from XP's and I had no problems with it regarding drivers and games whatsoever, it was a little bit chaotic in the begining for me to find all those 64bit drivers and stuff, but I've had them for a year now so it shouldn't be that bad to find drivers these days. I think you should get it if you need it...I would've gone with 32bit but someone told me it's better to have 64bit in case I wanted to upgrade and really use it and I got these from my university for free so I was like "yeh why not". Go for it Smile

also no problems with the transfer from xp to win7 here.

You'll need the 64 bit version if you want to address more than 3 Gb of memory. For windows this means you can run more stuff at the same time maybe, but it really becomes usefull when you start using 64 bit programs.

For me this was important since i like to do video editting stuff, which can really use the extra memory (the new version of adobe premiere, which is 64 bit can).

Drivers have been no problem for me, but depends on your hardware and if they have 64 bit drivers. Some old printer or scanner might give you some problems maybe. But this is smt you can check upfront, before installing.

Oh, I had slight problems with communicating between my win7 PC and my sisters XP and my moms XP PCs, because we have a shared printer that goes through my PC, but I managed to fix it somehow.

our printer is alone on the network, doesnt go through a computer.
so i guess shouldnt be a prob.

and i think i will find the drivers for my hardware, just checked some.

but i read somewhere that 32-bit programs run slower with a 64-bit system, is that true?

To enter "GodMode," you need only create a new folder and then rename the folder to the following:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Once that is done, the folder's icon will change to resemble a control panel and will contain dozens of control options.

It's very useful, especially when you are new to the operating system like me. Smile

i am biasd with win 7... i bet it is a better architecture!

the "normal" user will love it for sure - for me it is like a move from XP to Mac Oo

the next point. I got so many expensive hard- a. software without Win 7 export.
